Network upgrade for TalknSave

TalknSave is thrilled to announce that it will be upgrading its network to the fastest 3G/4G network available in Israel, via Pelephone, Israel's original mobile carrier. 

With Pelephone, our reception is even more seamlessly solid, and the data speeds are incredibly fast! With more and more customers wanting data services on their phones, this upgrade was the next logical step in bringing the best service to TalknSave's clients.

What this means for new customers: Almost every phone we rent is now BRAND NEW, and all are 3G phones with data capabilities. Even our data-free kosher phone models are brand new and the latest generation touch-screen models.

What this means for existing customers: Gradually we are upgrading all accounts to Pelephone. You will be contacted by our team regarding when your phone and network upgrade will take place. In most cases, you can keep your existing 052 number, or switch to a new 050 number. Phone for Life customers will be given a free new phone as well. We will happily move over your contact information here in our Jerusalem office.

Data plans in Israel: why getting a local plan makes sense

As the international cellular market develops, not all providers are lowering prices. In fact, major American mobile operator Verizon has recently updated their roaming plan for Israel as follows:

$1.99/minute for incoming and outgoing calls
$20.00/megabyte for data

It is no surprise that a Verizon customer roaming in Israel could easily incur hundreds or even thousands of dollars in charges.

Breaking down the cost
Let’s say the average webpage, including images, flash etc., is 300kb. At the rates I was charged, I could view 9 webpages before I met my average cost of monthly data service.
To put everything into perspective, a 15 minute Skype call would cost $875.
Watching one music video on Youtube would cost you about $200.

New: free pickup and return in Ramat Beit Shemesh

Talk'n'Save is thrilled to announce our new service in the greater Bet Shemesh / Ramat Bet Shemesh area. Hundreds (thousands?) of tourists, students and olim come directly to the Bet Shemesh area upon arrival in Israel, and now they can get their rental cell phone, SIM card, modem and more without leaving town.

In conjunction with the RBS Gelt Center, customers can pre-order their rental equipment, and pick it up in the Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef merkaz mischari, the large shopping center off of Nachal Kishon. Convenient to the Ramah and minutes away from Bet Shemesh proper, the location provides a valuable bonus to recently-arrived tourists, because the RBS Gelt Center is a full-service money changer as well as a Talk'n'Save pickup location.

At the end of your rental, you can return the Israel phone, SIM or modem directly at the RBS Gelt Center. There is no fee for this service - free pickup and free return.

The RBS Gelt Center is open Sun-Thurs from 8:30 AM-7 PM, and Fridays & erev chag from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM.
